Foster Grandparent Program

The Foster Grandparent Program at Catholic Charities brings together senior citizens and children who have special or exceptional needs. By doing so, the children feel valued while senior citizens engage in meaningful work that pays them a tax-free stipend.

Help children succeed

Classroom foster grandparents serve in schools, early childhood programs, daycare centers and in the two Catholic Charities of Wichita shelters to help children succeed by:

  • Tutoring and mentoring children, one-on-one or in small groups.
  • Nurturing children through listening, talking, walking or reading.
  • Providing intellectual stimulation through one-on-one tutoring.
  • Helping children make strides in their physical, psychological, educational and social development.

Become a classroom Foster Grandparent!

Foster grandparents have been back in the classroom during the 2021-2022 school year, and we expect to have even more opportunities to place grandparents in classrooms during the 2023-2024 academic year. Consider helping a child feel valued by becoming a classroom foster grandparent.

For more information, call (316) 264-8344, ext. 1211.
