When Chryseis Casanova joined Catholic Charities as marketing manager for outreach earlier this year, she did so with the intent of helping more families and referral sources know about Catholic Charities’ services, especially those offered by Adult Day Services, Cana Counseling, Immigration Services and the Foster Grandparent Program.

“I was intrigued by the opportunity of representing Catholic Charities’ ministries in the community and the mission-driven meaning behind the organization,” says Chryseis, who also is now managing the organization’s social media channels. She brings more than eight years of experience in senior living to her role at Catholic Charities, where her primary focus will be creating a steady pipeline of participants at Adult Day Services. She most recently served as director of marketing for Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

Engaging with families and caregivers

“I was drawn to this role as it represented an opportunity to engage with not only the greater Wichita-area community, but also with Adult Day Services,” she says. “While I have considerable sales and marketing experience with the senior population, this position also gives me the opportunity to engage with families and caregivers of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. That is a new population for me.”

Chryseis is the single point of contact for families and guardians interested in learning more about Adult Day Services. She is available to give tours, visit one-on-one with referral partners, case managers and families, and represent Adult Day Services at a variety of community events that showcase available services for adults with special abilities or seniors.

Adult Day Services

Adult Day Services provides quality day programs for both adults 18 and older with intellectual and development disabilities, and seniors age 55 or older who are experiencing dementia, Alzheimer’s or loneliness. It offers a private pay option for individuals who do not have the Home and Community Based Service waiver for Medicaid funding and an income-based sliding fee scale for qualified participants.

“ADS offers a unique option for families and caregivers, with impactful programs offered for both seniors and the IDD population,” Chryseis says. “Not only is the building built in such a fashion to welcome both populations with more than adequate space, ADS provides care options that offer dignity and privacy. Our full care program offers services which might be challenging for a caregiver to provide at home. Also, a unique sensory room offers an opportunity for a participant to learn how to self soothe; that is a great independence builder.”

Amenities and outdoor rec area

Located at 2235 W37th St. N, the 5.5-acre ADS campus includes a 30,000 square foot building and an accessible outdoor recreation area. The building includes 10 spacious program rooms, a large multipurpose room for meals and activities, and amenities that include a sensory room, dedicated changing rooms, a roll-in shower and a total of 24 ADA accessible bathrooms.

The outdoor rec area includes covered picnic and bench swing areas, percussion and tactile stations, swings, a water feature and multipurpose court. The entire area is surrounded by a wide, concrete walking path and is fenced for the safety of participants.
